Green with envy is OK by us and our clients.
Preservation of our environment is ever-present in our office life and daily work routine. It’s embedded in our culture. For many years, GH&I has been an adopter of green practices, new and old. This has not only benefited our environment, but it has also helped us to achieve realized savings in overhead costs, which ultimately benefits our clients.
Paper files are more and more a thing of the past, and electronic file storage and client portals are more the norm. Ride sharing, public transportation are encouraged; remote access to office business a staple; and green brainstorm sessions are part of our annual employee meetings. When we moved our offices to our current location in June of 2009, we termed it a ‘green’ move. Office files were scanned and stored electronically, and file cabinets were no longer required. This meant file rooms were no longer needed and so less square footage was required thus reducing the drain on electricity and gas.
In planning for the build out of our new office space, several green initiatives were embraced, from office lighting that automatically turns itself off in rooms not occupied, to pre-determined temperature controls, and more. Office and conference doors were not ordered new, but instead, the old tenant doors were taken down and refurbished which in turned saved a forest or two. While the color blue dominates our brand logo and visual images, green is dominant in the ways of our culture.
